I had a set of 'cheap' mintex pads on my STi at oulton a fortnight ago. lasted 3 laps. ended up destroying the (brand new) rears too (also on cheapo mintex).

in this case cheap=crap, spend a bit more and get the proper ones, not the compound intended for going to the supermarket.

just my humble opinion

edited to add that the DS2500 is an excellent pad, so are the Mintex 1144 and 1155, but a bit noisy and very dusty.

Can't seem to get hold of Ferodo DS2500 pads today, I've been offered Mintex (wasn't told the model) for £35.

Are they anygood ?

Obviously I mean FRONT and not FRONY

In my experience Mintex pads work very well & are nice & cheap. BUT they create alote of dust, chew up the standard discs & can squeak alote. Sooo apart from from that they're just fine - oh yes, bedding them in is fun!

I've been running a set of Mintex pads (1144 ? IIRC ) for the last 2 years - can confirm that they are noisy (worse when new), very dirty, but I've never had any complaints about the performance of them. Can't say they chew discs up though, I'm running standard Subaru front discs and they seem fine at the moment.

Wish I could get hold of them for £35 - mine need changing now !

at that price you've only been offered std replacement pads and not likely to be even 1144...............
don't have many good things to say for these.......

EBC are pretty bad. Had no confidence in the discs or pads (although my alloys were always clean from their low dust formula-shame about the front end prang though-only joking). waste of money I thought and have the Godspeed 4 pot 325mm kit. A lot better.

Just for reference tried both green and red stuff pads. Rubbish!!

Question

you sure it's M1144 - seems cheap .

maybe it's just std a/m pad material (M1109 or similar)?
