I have just changed the front pads to Pagid 42 and they seem worse than the last set (which were the pads that the new car came with). I guess they take a while to bed in? Any idea how long this may take (I appreciate it will depend on how much I use the brakes)?
Thx Simon.

I bought a set of Pagid 'Blues' 421's and they didn't really need bedding in.
There was a procedure recommended by the supplier it went something like this:

5 touches of the pedal at about 30mph - gently
2 touches of the pedal at about 50mph - Medium force
1 Touch of the pedal at about 70mph (Motorway of course) - Emergency stop force.

Then try not to touch the brakes for 2-3 miles to let the pads cool down.

They have worked well ever since this and have been a big improvment over the previous pads.

I fitted the Pagid 42s yesterday alongwith their grooved discs and they didnt really need a lot of bedding in (just gentle braking). They are a huge improvement over the Subaru items, although I dont know what the improvement of the pads alone would be.
The recommended bedding in procedure according to the leaflet was "moderate braking force from 110 down to 60 mph without activating the ABS". Hmm. A bit tricky to achieve that on a 5 mile journey home in rush hour traffic!

Thanks Guys for your replies. I was only braking from approx 30 mph. I will try a couple of stops from 50 and one from 70.
Thx again,
Simon
