rs4.2, commonly referred to as "blues" are NOT the same as rs4.2.1.....
rs4.2 is a more competition biased compound offering better friction and temp. resistance with (sometimes) a slight increase in noise.
rs4.2.1 was developed as a road orientated compound and is used as O.E. fitment for a lot of high-end performance vehicles from Porshe, Ferrari, etc. it offers good wear rates, low brake noise at the expense of slightly less friction and high temperature ability.
hope this helps, email or phone if you need anything further,

thanks Alyn for your reply.
I presume 'blues' are ok for the road? Are they better than the 42.1's?Any downside ie major increase on disc wear? bad from cold stopping?
cheers Simon

"blues" are fine for road use (run these on legacy turbo 'chase car'....), they actually have slightly better all round friction but can sometimes be more noisy in operation (can't have it all ways i'm afraid - though they are not what i would class as noisy!), obviously have a higher wear rate if used as designed but aren't any harder on discs than rs4.2.1.........
email me for any specific advice,
