Blimey, fronts worn out in 7 weeks
#1
I've got no inside tread on my fronts at 7,800 miles - the WRX was new 1st Nov - so the question is; Is it OK to put a new pair on the front (backs have loads of life yet but are the standard Bridgestones) and, can I go for F1's and do the backs later? Crimbo and all that makes doing all 4 impossible this month :-(
Also, with my mega miles, are there any alternatives to F1's that give loooooong life but good performance?
Cheers and Happy Christmas!

That's a really good point! The tread on the rest of the tyre(s - both are the same) is fine. My Dad reckon's I should be able to claim under warranty as there's something wrong with the set-up - doubt it, but I'll try!
Should the tryre wear be even on properly set up front's?
Cheers!

I think Subaru's factory settings do tend to scrub the inside tread. I personally, would go and kick up a stink at the main dealer, and then visit TSL for a full laser setup, which in my case has stopped all scrubbage

Exactly the same happened to me.
Fronts scubbed on the inside at 7500 service. The main dealer tried to sell me new ones! Never been back - TSL do my servicing (And christmas lists!) now.
Swapped the fronts with the backs and got the geometry set up done by TSL - about £100
Had punctures and broken wheels - ended up replacing four tyres with budget (!) tyres at 15K miles. At 23.5K miles still even tread all round! I expect to get another 10K miles out of thse tyres.
Plus the geometry setup transofrms the way the car feels.
Cheers

EVO magazine reported exactly the same thing when they had a WRX long term car. Miraculously, the problem was solved at a service when they mentioned it after the dealer said "nothing was wrong with the geometry". Subaru "press vehicle" though

Am seeing the dealer in the morning, hope to try and get something done! I've not been enjoying the car for the last few weeks, just too tramliney (!?) and nervous, I suspect that this has been the problem! I found myself choosing the missis Sport for drives (with new P Zero's).
Fingers crossed!
