Well... after saving up for a few months and cutting a deal with a wheel place, I arrive to have my new wheels fitted only to be told they won't fit. It's down to the off set on superleggeras being too small(?) therefore the spokes catch the brakes. The place offered to get them milled down by 5mm in order to clear the brakes, is this regular practise or am I better looking for something else?

If any of you have replaced the standard STi UK wheels, can you let me know what use replaced them with.

Towzer,
don't cut the spokes - structural integrity will be compromised. the only real way to add onto the mount face and have no probs (ie spacers and that sot of crap) is to weld clad the face and stress relieve the whole wheel to maintain the grain flow / structure.Unfortunately this will cause other problems (ie rubbing on the outside at the arches) I know how i drive my scoob and cutting the spokes is not an option - get the dealer to take them back and supply the right f-ing wheels in the first place.

Ewan,

It's the centre section where the bolts go through that they are looking at milling down. I'm not happy about the whole thing to be honest, but wanted to check with people in the know incase it is a regular practise to mill down wheels.

If they mill down the centre it will put the brakes closer to the wheel........... will it not .

Personally i'd just get a wheel that fits without ****ing about.... it's not worth risking.

Would'nt touch with a very ling pole if I were you.

Shop around there are many suppliers who can sort them in the right fittment for you even Halfords!!!

Just does'nt right to have to mill a wheel, would have thought they are designed as whole and you cant just lob bits off to make them fit, otherwise this would make the wheel makers job a lot easier, design a standard wheel as a 19" and then if you want a 17 just grind down the outside edges till you lose 2"

None of that having to create diff casts for different cars.
