New-age alloys on a classic?
#1
As I understand it, a classic comes with 205/65/15's as standard, with a 5 x 100, 12mm bolt pattern, with a 55mm positive offset.
Will a New-age 17" with 225/45/17's with a 38mm offset be a perfect fit with no fouling problems?
Cheers

Sorry forgot to say - they're 17's off a new STI and I want to put them on my Legacy GT.
Reading through the forum, I see people have problems with rubbing with 225's which is solved by using 215's.
Would this be the same for a Legacy GT?
Any help greatly appreciated - I don't want to leave the seller hanging around!
Cheers

I'm in the process of doing what your contemplating - putting Sti7 wheels onto Legacy GT (BG5B '97).
The problem is tyre / strut clearance at the back with 225s, there is about 2-3mm interference (-ve clearance). You might get away with narrower tyres but its marginal IMO. I'm changing wheels to upgrade the brakes and as part of that exercise am having the rear bells thickened by 10mm in effect to give me a 10mm spacer. I'm also changing the wheel studs to GrpN which are 10mm longer. This wiil give me enough clearance to put in some -ve camber. Theres plenty of strut clearance at front - arch clearance is tight though.
The Sti wheels @ 7.5" are the absolute widest that will fit - even then I might have to tweak the arches to stop fouling. I'm not planning to lower it (much) though - I like it to land well!
