I know that they will fit classic's,but can anybody tell me if the standard 17" wheels off a MY01 STi fitted with 225 tyres will fit the classic. The car has been lowered.

If you mean the standard tyres from a New Age STi, then the answer will be no! The rolling diameter of these tyres is greater than those that will fit a classic shape car, particularly a lowered one.

AFAIK, people fitting 17" wheels to lowered classic shape cars stick to 215 x 40, but even these fitting depends on the shape of the shoulder.
