Just thought I would share my experience on having the above done by a dealer.

This was performed at a cost of approx £60 so not particularly cheap and therefore expect a sound job.

When I came to get the car back the steering wheel was still off centre and it climbed the camber.

Subsequently re-booked back in to get sorted.

Took the guy for a drive showed him the problems and he commented that you cannot get the wheel dead straight because of the splines. I questioned whether this is actually the case as you do not take the wheel off to do the setting.?? and also that you must put a device on the wheel to lock it dead straight

The car demonstrated its problems and was taken in for a re-set.

When picking up the car was advised that they had extensively tested the car and checked all steering components, made a few adjustments, but that the car would still be like this due to a combination of the tyres and roads.

Now tell me if I am wrong but surely if I am paying £60 for a laser alignment I expect the above to be sorted, if I had wanted a crap job I woudl have gone to one of our trusted high street places and paid £20.

Any comments (still out of pocket and car no different)

Cheers

Kwack

Whoever did it was a ***. The tracking should be adjusted equally on each track rod end, not just one as they have done, and then the steering wheel stays central.

They've probably only adjusted the tracking on the front and nothing else anyway......

Sounds like they aren't very good with their kit...

I'm off up to TSL on the 12th Dec, they will be doing my geo after they put eibachs on the car - if you ring them now you could book the car in for a geo and if you get up early enough, you can follow me from Toddington Services. Drop me an email if interested. These guys, like a couple of other outfits, know how to get it spot on.
