New tyres - wheel alignment?
#1
Need to get some new tyres soon for my MY00 Turbo. Should I consider getting the tracking laser checked as a matter of course?
PS. Anyone know of a good place to get 4 Toyos in the Dorset/Hants area?

Deffo have it checked, with the new tyres on The tyre themselves won't alter the settings but you don't want to risk scrubbing off 4 new tyres Now would be a good time to go for prodrive settings/bumpsteer mod, should you be considering it.

Powerstation carry out the bumpsteer mod.
It improves turn in and makes the steering feel a bit more weighty. Well worth doing.
Is also supposed to stop the front wheels splaying under heavy braking.
The website www.powerstation.org.uk says (about the Sunny GTI-R bumpsteer mod)
"The kit consists of a pair of high quality steel rose joints, which replace the original track rod ends. A high carbon steel machined insert is fitted to the steering arm. This lowers the pivot point of the track rod ends, effectively reducing the bumpsteer by two thirds"
