Question

Looking to upgrade my pads while leaving the standard Subaru discs on. I have the 4-pot setup. How would Mintex 1144 pads perform with the Subaru discs, in terms of cold performance, fade resistance and general compatability with the discs (any warping or cracking problems etc)?

I'm currently using OE pads so any comparisons against these would be great. Quite like the idea of 1144s instead of 1155s because I don't do a lot of prolonged heavy braking and need the cold bite more.

Cheers.

Paul

I'm in the same boat as you. MY 99 standard discs, knackered pads, don't know which pads to go for.

I have found that most people tend to think of Mintex 1144s as disc eaters as are EBC green and reds.
I narrowed it down to either Ferodo DS2500 or Pagid blues (RS4-2), which are both highly rated, work well from cold and don't eat discs.
After speaking to Alyn at AS Performance I decided to go for Pagid Blues on front and standard pads on the rear. His prices are the best I have seen - Pagid £135 and Ferodo £125.
Give him a bell on 0191 4103770 or email ASPINFORMATION@AOL.COM. I don't get paid by him (honest) but even if you don't buy from him. He's bloody helpful.
Pads will be arriving for fitting this weekend - I'll let you know how they are if you like before you decide.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for that info mate, but I'm intending getting the Mintex pads off ChrisB from here. So need to know pretty quickly if they will kill my discs!

Anyone else?

I've found the 1144 to be great (fast road, and pretty good on track too) and haven't noticed any adverse disk wear

Check out the PADS & DISC Collective info thread. Not everyone seems to agree.
