I have fitted Goodridge Brake hoses all round and had problems with my MY97 where the hoses go through the suspension arm brackets. The flanges on the hoses were too wide and I had to bend the gap in the bracket open to get them to fit and allow the clip to engage. Because the bracket is slightly mishappen due to the bending the flanges on the hose can now rock slightly in the bracket instead of sitting flat/flush. The upshot of this is that they rattle (at least thats what I think is rattling) on bumpy roads. Has anyone else encountered this? I was thinking of using cable ties to hold them tight or self amalgamating rubber tape to cushion them. ANY HELP GRATEFULLY RECEIVED.

Cat,
I found this when I fitted mine about a year ago, I e-mailed the supplier who promised me that they would sort the problem for the future, didn't help me though, a cable tie should do it.
E-mail me if you want to add fuel to the fire.
Ron.

Hi,
I'be just fitted Goodridge hoses and found that going over speed bumps/bumpy roads etc i get a rattle coming more from the front right but also a little from the front left. It sort of sounds like a spanner being thrown into a tool box of other spanners (stupid way to describe it i know ). It's a very 'metalic' sound, not a heavy 'clunk'. I initially thought it was my brake pads rattling in the caliper but i've checked the anti-rattle clip and it seems fine. I'll jack the car up and try to get a tie wrap onto them and see if it helps.
Tony.

Tone - that is just how the noise sounds, mine is worse on the rears because the front ones are pretty vertical where the pipe goes through the bracket, but the rears are angled so they almost lay flat and the hose jiggles around more on bumps which in turn causes more rattle.
Looks like a day off tomorrow to jack it up and do some investigating!
On a positive note they certainly firm up the pedal, once the new disks and pads have bedded in I reckon they will be half decent brakes at last.

Yep, id say they're definately worth it too. Unfortunately my second had 4 pots came with warped discs . Think i'll be doing some more work when i get round to ordering some Black Diamond Grooved discs.
I'll have the car up in the air on saturday to see how i can stop them rattling (hoping it is the hoses and not anything that could cost many £££££ to fix ).
Let me know how you get on,
Tony.

I have braided hoses on my car too and I also get the metalic clink from the rear when going over bumps etc. I may see if I can get the car up this weekend as well and have a look round.

I have just solved mine with self amalgamating rubber tape wrapped round the parts that go into brackets on the car body and suspension then clipping them back in, it makes the clips tighter for a start and it also acts like a rubber washer (with the advantage that you don't need to take the hoses off to fit it).
I got the tape from work, but you might be able to get it from B&Q etc.
Everything now silent! YES!
