Goodyear F1 GSD03s 215/40/17s (Price roundup)
#1
Just did an extensive ring round for the best price so thought i would share it with you all to save other ppl the same kind of leg work.
Reports on the tyre say its very good, wears better than a Toyo Proxie and i know of two ppl who have taken Toyo's off their car to put the GSD03 on it due to not being happy with the Toyo (both had SO2s on their motor )
Prices;
--------------------------
Bathwick Tyres 100 quid a tyre, fitted on their premises
Swindon, Tel 01793 527380
[note i did some extensive haggling to get that price]
Black Circles - Best was 108 quid - Dispels a few rumours
0845 2000022
Fleet - 98.71 a tyre plus 15 quid carriage for set of four
Tel 0161 9804041 or 01454 882299 (located near Bristol etc)
Northampton Tyres - Initial price was 125 quid *snicker*
Tel 01604 588599
Hope this helps someone, all prices VAT inc and in pounds
[bloody pound sign doesnt work ]
P.S. Mention Scoobynet in all telephone calls as it makes them more competitive

For what its worth, I have replaced the Toyo's with the Goodyear GSD 03 tyres (215/40 ZR17) on my P1 and have to say I am well impressed, far more grip than with the Toyo's (also 215/40 ZR17)....just to depress you a bit I paid 75 quid each plus VAT fitted for 4 all in and all for one phone call!
Some you win.........

In the Evo tyre test Toyo's I believe were 3rd and the F1's 1st in the "subjective" marking. They feel better than they are, and are to quote more progressive and predictable when they give. (a good thing when your red lining on a corner to keep the diffs working). The thing about the test, and what I wanted to point out, was that the top scorers only won about 1 test outright each, and it was more important for you to feel you knew what the tyre was good at, rather than it really being that good at what it did.
I have to say I personally would rather feel confident that I understood the tyre I was using rather than it being the best in the dry or wet etc.
So don't all rush out and buy the best "subjective tyre" cos it doesn't mean its going to be the best for you, and your style of driving, or car.
(personal preaching from high soap box off )

Are the Goodyears expensive since they're a new model?
I paid £55 inc. VAT for mine Eagle F1's last year. That was at trade price, but I can't imagine they're trying to make £50 per corner on each of them.
Typical price for the old ones was £80.
