Just discovered this split today on my fairly new Eagle F1s GDS with probably less than 1000 miles. Back to the garage tomorrow.

hmmm, there's no way that split has been caused by you. its one of 3 things:
1)a manufacturing fault
2)it was like it before being fitted
3)the tyre fitter damaged it during fitting

DONT accept any bull ****, if they try to charge for a new tyre tell them your a member of the AA and have already shown them the tyre and they(the AA) have said to contact them if you dont get it replaced free of charge!

good luck

Thanks for the replies guys.

The tyre wall is definitely split and the tyre has gone back to Goodyear with my "complaint form". In the meantime, I have had to fork out another £99 odd for the new tyre which will be refunded IF Goodyear acknowledge a fault from their XRay tests. I wait with bated breath!

Hopefully the 1000 miles wear will not give rise to too much wear on the drives with the new tyre.

My money is on damage caused while fitting the tyre. I've never seen a sidewall go like that so close to the bead.

Very odd... thanks for the heads-up - I'm off to check mine now!.

Cheers,

Alex
