What brake discs/pads... MY95 WRX
#1
Hi,
There must be a few WRX owners on here, what sort of brake discs and pads do people have... mine need replacing, but i dont want to spend loads...
There seems to be loads of conflicting info, i.e some people say EBC are good others say stear clear...??

Hi Dan
I have Pagid 8 groove disks and Pagid FR pads. they are very hard wearing, I have done 15000 miles on them including 2 full trackdays - admittedly I go easy on them on the road and get fade on track, but with braided hoses and 5.1 fluid its arguably the best setup for the poor 2pots that we have.
I went for these over EBC so I have never tried EBC, purely due to the poor comments on here. They may be cheap but its false economy it seems.

Just read my reply above and it seems all I talk about is VFM!
Stopping power is excellent (for 2pots), much better than OE. Also they don't make any noise at all and the amount of brake dust they produce is not excessive. On the times that they've been continuously hammered they don't lose their bite - the pedal goes soft before they go, and the disks haven't warped yet...

I went for standard pads (Mintex 1155s ate a disk in two sets of pads so worked out costly, they were also very noisy) with Tarox G88 40 groove disk, a little more fade resistant than the Mintex pads and OE disks. Also disks wearing much better.

I run 4 pots on our 94 wrx, and the set up consists of standard discs(my99) with mintex 1144, and I'm well chuffed with them, and for my style of driving(miss daisey) they're enough(for now)
