I had to put the space saver on today.
My normal wheels are 18"
Will the space saver be ok on the car for - say - 20miles ?
I am a little concerned about the different sizes screwing the diffs ??? or am I wrong here ?
Quick advice needed thanks !
Ro.
BTW - its the front nearside.

Just don't drive it 'normally' !
I hate the things so :-
buy a used proper spare and then buy some high density foam squares from a fabric shop. This raises the boot floor but it is still level. Beats the skinny when you have some serious miles to travel

oh, and will a 17" + pzero actually fit in the space saver well in the boot (diameter wise)? I'm pretty sure it must do (circumference pretty much the same for all wheels?)

I think that the idea that a slightly heavier wheel sunk into the floorpan is going to make anything more than a marginal difference is a false one.
I really haven't noticed any difference - and logically it would probably be like having a slightly different tyre pressure as its not as though the wheel is sliding from side to side each time you go round a bend.
The benefits and peace of mind by far outweigh any gnat's whisker difference in handling finesse - as you say, when will you really notice ?
I have a 99MY and the 16" wheel fits fine - I'm sure there's room for a 17" - but you could take a wheel off to check ? For the cost of a bit a foam, you can always check it then chuck it out if not happy. I also got a soundproofing mat from bjacoustics.com which goes over the cardboard 'thing'

Thanks mate - kinda what I thought anyway
Only asking as I've just bought a P1 OZ 17" alloy and tyre to use as a spare and then had nagging doubts Unfounded it would seem
I'll check the size of the space saver well though

Surely the wheel size is unimportant -- if a 16" wheel fits then a 17" wheel should fit. The 17" wheel has lower profile rubber to make the rolling radius the same -- hence total diameter (wheel + tyre) should be the same to within a few mm.
