when turning sharp left at approx 15+mph. Sounds like it is coming from the rear d/s disc. Any ideas anyone? (rear pads look ok but I haven't taken the wheel off yet to have a good look - discs have seen better days as they have rust buildup on the outer edge and are the original ones with 90k on the clock)

thanks

Martin

Possibly a stone caught between the disc and the backplate. Try reversing slowly, turning the steering wheel from lock to lock for 20 metres or so, then drive forward doing the same thing. May take a couple of attempts to free it. Failing which, you may need to take the wheel off and investigate properly.
