I'm using AP 4 pots with 304mm discs on the front of my MY99 car and the calipers are oh so close to the spokes of the wheels but clear okay.
I want to fit bigger discs / calipers under the 17's but wondered if anyone knows what kits are available that definitely fit under these Speedlines (52mm offset).
I quite like the idea of AP/KAD/Willwood 6 pots but don't know if they will fit.
Anyone got any experiences or advice on what to do to check for caliper clearance for these wheels?
Also has anyone upgraded the rear brakes? I believe Hi-Spec do a 4 pot rear with bigger disc and handbrake facility. Anyone know of any others or have had experience with Hi-Spec?
Any thoughts welcome.
Thanks

Just got myself a set of these wheels .The Prodrive 4 pot caliper definately fits behind them as does the AP six pot, tried the caliper profile (cut out from the AP web site) on the wheel. If these do i'd be very surprised if the others that you've listed don't. But i can't be sure.

Hi Knowlesy
I've mailed Pete in the last couple of days about the KAD kits but forgot to ask about clearance for my Speedlines.
Also asked about alternative rears but he reckons that is still a few months down the line before they are developed
Changing for bigger brakes is a fair bit of dosh, so want to make sure it's money well spent.
Enjoy your holiday......you jammy git!!!

Alan,
a cheaper option would be to use your existing calipers, and just fit the bigger 330mm AP discs (I'm assuming the bells are the same). You would also need the brackets from the 330mm kit as well to move the calipers back.
Having said this, if your existing discs and pads etc are in good condition, it may not be too difficult to get a good price for the whole kit 2nd hand, and upgrade to a bigger kit. As far as I know, almost all the 330mm kits available will fit under these wheels.

Hi John
Have just overhauled the existing set up in readiness to sell. Discs/pads/brackets/bolts etc all fresh and ready for use.
I didn't want to skimp with any item, plus I don't want any buyer to have any issues with them either. Safety is priority.
Some time ago, I tried to get through to AP technical and though I spoke to a couple of guys there, they couldn't confirm if the bigger discs would work with those calipers. The thought behind it was that the calipers may have to be machined to allow disc clearance, which wasn't recommended. Also they didn't know what brackets could be used, so never pursued that any further.

Thanks Mike
Don't suppose you'll get this 'til Monday, but I would have thought the greater clamping area of the pads on a 6 pot would have provided a better braking force over the 4 pots?
