Hi,
I just got my car serviced, and the garage indicated that it needed new front brake discs, as the current ones are corroded. My car is a MY00 Turbo. How much can I expect to pay for new discs + fitting?
Also, my car is just over 2 years old, but has only covered 12,000 miles (it was the 30k service). Does this seem a bit soon for the discs to need replaced? Why would they have corroded so quickly? Is there anything I could have done to prevent it?
Cheers,
Andy

Mines MY99 38K miles - I was quoted 112 pounds per disc OEM along with the 96 pounds for the pad set.
I had to have the OEM pads changed at 22500 miles.
Just arrived at my desk within the last 5 mins are some TSL GrpN+ discs and DS25000 - cost 119.50 pads, 188 pair of discs, 20 delivery.
Thinking of doing them this lunch time in the carpark at the office !

Pete,
My car is a Euro import, so is no longer under warranty.
It sounds like they shouldn't have corroded so soon. What would cause this?
Cheers,
Andy

Water (rain) and salt causes corrosion. Normal metal corrodes. If you want to avoid that, you can buy discs that do not contain corrosive metal (or only a small % in the disc).
Where did they corrode? And how bad is it? Is it just brown around the bell? (that's normal, watch for rip off merchants). Maybe check hubs too...
