Had my car in at the dealer today for a geometry setup and was given a W reg 60k Legacy Saloon to drive. You really know the Impreza's brakes are crap when you get back in and realise that the Legacy's were far better. How on earth can Subaru justify putting such poor brakes on a 220bhp performance car?
Is it the calipers, pads or discs that are crap or a combo? I ask because I cant afford a decent full upgrade at the moment so was wondering if its worthwhile going for something like what SS offer with the pagid pads and discs, then upgrading the calipers later on?

P.S. Sorry for double post but mods have yet to move my misplaced one.

I don't think that the brakes are that bad, they do stop the car very well, however, the dual stage vacuum booster and the geometry of the actual pedal go a long way to removing the feel and firmness that you get with most performance cars.
Changing the pads, fitting braided hoses and uprated fluid will assist with feel as well as help stave of fade for most road driving situations.
I also firmly believe that Scoobs get thrashed more than most performance cars and owners expect too much from them for the price.
