Question

From what I have seen(I know there is no perfect pad):

DS2000: can fade on track, wear out quickly when out of operating range
DS2500: can eat and/or warp discs on track

I am not in the UK so where can I get either of these pads via mail order and what prices are we looking at? Seems DS2000 are only available via Subaru dealers as a Prodrive part.

There are a number of suppliers who can provide you with the DS2500 pads for the 4 pot calipers.

FPC in Glenrothes are one: www.falkland.co.uk though no prices on site.
TSL in Nottingham are another. www.tsl-motorsport.co.uk

There are probably many more as well

I've had 2000's put on my std MY99 and they are definitely better than the std pads. Not tried anything else though...

I warped brand new OE discs with DS2500's in 3 hard track laps - warm up and down lap didn't help. I was possibly braking a little unsympathetically though....trying to keep a Movit equiped friend from passing me...failed....miserably

I always found ds2000's better (on track) in as much as the pad would cook and fade before the disc got damaged.

DS2000's have cracked OEM discs in 6 laps of Bedford. They can work well if used sympathetically on the track, but who can trust themselves to do that?

I run DS2500 front and rear on a MY99. Front on EBC disc and rear original dish. I have done 3 track days with DS 2500 and disk still look OK.
DS2500 is the bast I have tried and is OK for daily use, no squeal and OK when cold. My next pad's will be DS2500 again

I have DS2500s on my MY01 with OEM disks, the discs lasted a morning on-track and then the buggers cracked. I prefer the OEM pads for day to day driving but DS2500s for track with better discs.

The problem is not the pads, it's the OEM discs. I have cracked OEM discs with DS2000 pads in a few laps on Donington. And when I say cracked, I mean you can see daylight through them DS2500 will crack them a little quicker

Both these pads are fine for road use, and DS2000 can take a bit of track abuse but will wear quite quickly. DS2500, when used enthusiastically, will bu99er OEM discs. This is what I use, but with a big brake upgrade kit.

My advice, for road use, get some decent quality discs (Pagid, Prodrive, Godspeed two-piece etc) and fit DS2000 pads.

Richard.

What are the best pads to get to go with the OEM discs for everyday driving ? Will need new pads soon but only use the car for commuting to and from work so don't really want to replace discs as well as they are in good condition. Any suppliers would be helpful too.

Thanks

Ken

Just fitted DS2500 front pads to my Godspeed Brembo kit (325mm disks) and they sqeal at low speed and 'sing' for about 10-20 seconds after fairly hard braking (but not aggressively!). Not too impressed. I had EBC Reds before and they didn't make any noises but lacked 'bite'!

I have been using DS2500s with Tarox 44 groove disks for a while now- done about six days at Oulton which eats brakes and tyres. The disks hardly look worn- no warping or cracking- but the pads are a bit shagged. reaaly impressed with the pads though
