Help with EBC brakes warping?
#1
Got a friend who know's alot about cars and has fitted brakes before, to put my new EBC track discs and red stuff pads on my UK MY00. Within 3000 miles the pads are worn out (one slightly more than the other) and I think the discs are warped (really bad steering vibration above 70mph when applying the brakes)
Phoned EBC and told that it is the way the discs were fitted. He said something about anymore than 2000mm out and the discs will warp and eat away the pads? Does anyone know what he was talking about? I thought you just took the old discs off, cleaned the hub and put the new one's on?
The guy said I could have a full refund or replacement, are there any better set ups out there without going bigger in size?

I myself warped two sets of EBC disks with greenstuff pads fitted by Tyres Northampton before they fitted a final lot with redstuff - these didn't warp. Seems to me EBC disks aren't particularly great IMHO and my reds (on since dec and covered about 3-4k) are worn out too - not impressed with them in the slightest.
I'd go for the TSL Group N disks and Ferodo DS2500 pads - get great write ups on here. I'm just about to fit the DS2500 to my turbogroove disks..........

I could have shown you a nice shiny new one, but I like this picture.
These discs have been absolutely hammered on a rally car. No cracking, No warpage, No problem.
16" wheels, 4 Piston O.E callipers.
