Tyres for STi UK?
#1
Hi
I am just waiting for my wheels 18 x 7.5", which top end tyres do you all suggest?
My thinking so far is:
Yokohama AVS Sport
Pirelli P Zero Nero
Bridgestone S03
Thanks for your help!

AVS - not used them, but they don't seem to work too well on an Impreza.
Nero - had its predecessor - the rosso - and rated it ok in the dry and very poor in the wet - just what you don't want with an STi7
S03 - used them for 5000 miles on a MY01 in 225/40x18, and rated them, especially in the wet. Did a Brands track day on them in a monsoon and they were superb.
Also consider Toyo T1-S - have used them, and really rate them.
Plus Goodyear F1 - the latest version (GDS3? from memory) - not used them, but came out well in evo mag test this month.

I had the old Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres and they were very good for grip in the wet and excellent in the dry. I now have Toyo Proxes T1-S and I think they are even better, although I have not had them on the car for long I am very impressed.

Had my STi7 for 3 weeks now, when i first picked it up i had 225/40/18 Yoko AVS Sports fitted, quickly came to the conclusion they did not seem anywhere near as good as the Toyo's fitted to my MY01, but due to the good write up in EVO i decided to try the new Goodyear F1, they do seem better than the Yoko's especially in the wet but the STi7 still is nowhere near my MY01 in terms of handling and grip ( MY01 also had Leda B) so the next step is to have Leda's fitted, then hopefully i will regain the confidence my MY01 inspired previously.
