Default Bridgestone Potenza Sport - 2007 STi

Hi all,

Now that Bridgestone have discontinued the Potenza RE070 tyres, I was a bit stumped as to what to go for next. I'd never come across a tyre that I liked for years to be taken out of production.

225 / 45 / R17 standard Enkei wheels.

After much research, I decided to go for 4 Bridgestone Potenza Sport, and they are cheap at about £75 a corner delivered from Camskill. There are lots of sizes available for these tyres.
I have to say, I am very pleased with the choice I made. No more tramlining, which years ago I actually quite liked, but grew tired of it.

The Potenza Sport tyre is new on the 2021 market after only a few months. Fantastic wet grip, and dry grip even better. No squealing either.
I put 34 psi front and 31 psi rear. Seems a perfect balance for ride comfort and traction. The DOT code on the tyres showed that they were only made 4 weeks before I received them.

Starting tread I think is only about 6.8mm or 7mm, but a very well made strong and sticky tyre. A bargain for the price point. They also have easily a 10mm rim protector too.
Quieter than RE070 for sure, and far more superior in the wet. The speed rating on RE070 was 90W, Potenza Sport is 94Y.

Looking forward to drier and warmer conditions to give them a real twisty test, I have no doubt they will be fantastic. Cracking tyre.
Camskill were as good as ever, and I received the tyres less than 48 hours after ordering them.

Good to hear they work well for you. I‘m thinking this will be my next tyre, too.

I wouldn't really pay too much attention to what he says, almost everything he comes out with is argumentative nonsense. They seem to get good reviews, and you're happy with them - those are the two things I would focus on.

Well yes that's right, plus I'm no hoonigan, never have been, I think they were a bargain per corner delivered.
Far more compliant and confidence inspiring than RE070 ever was. Never thought I'd hear myself say that, but it's true.

I'm glad you got something you're happy with, particularly after how concerned you were that you wouldn't find a decent replacement for your RE070. That said, the RE070 is now 18 year old technology which has been long surpassed (I think the Eagle F1 GSD2 was still the current version back then, with the GSD3 maybe being just launched?) so I was expecting most things to be better, particularly given how average car performances have increased over those intervening years. I was very surprised with how good a performance tyre an all rounder like the latest Eagle's are, even compared to very single minded high performance tyres like 888's etc.
