Default Prodrive GT1 fitment?

New to the forum, recently taken delivery of 07 Hawk STI my (second one). Its running on prodrive GT1 18 x 8.5J’s with 53 offset. Most sites say this is the correct size for the car but the front tyres are rubbing inner top arch on full turn. Tyres are 225 x 40 x 18. Anyone else had problems with these wheels?

Has it been lowered? Or maybe got some spacers fitted?

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. No spacers but yeah it’s on coilivers and is set a little lower but not so much as I’d thought I’d have a problem, especially with the lower profile tyres. I tried raising it back up a bit bit still the same rubbing. I’ll maybe try spacers if I can get away without having to roll the fenders. Thanks again

Thats the standard wheel and tyre size for RB320. You really shouldnt be having issues with arch rubbing if near standard height. Got any pics of the car as it sits?

Hi Lewis
i think you replied on another of my posts re the second engine rebuild. It’s the same car! If Carlberg did bad buys 😭
The car isn’t here, it’s garaged with the guy who’s quoting on the rebuild. Only pic I have is attached but it’s not a great angle.

RB320 tyres 235/40 x 18
Ride heights 355mm front 365mm rear.
Tyres rarely measure their stated width.
What front and rear camber?
Hitting inside strut or outside arch? Front and rear?

2spot, it’s the inside, front only, and sounds worse on drive side. It’s not rubbing the suspension components, just the plastic plate that lines the arch. Which made me think it was maybe the tyre profile too high. Garage felt the car was set up at a nice ride height, and rather than adjusting it, they tried heating the plastic plate to soften it and push it in a bit. I’m back in the garage today and will def check the ride height though compared to the RB320 spec you advised. Thanks.
