Default Bit of brake help pls.

Recently had my discs and pads done on my widetrack by a so called Subaru specialist who has now decided to ignore me. So much for after care.

So I bought the Godspeed g hook discs front and back with the Kevlar pads again front and back. I have so far given them 300 miles to bed in as per Ian's instructions but they just don't bite like I would have expected. I'm not in any way blaming Godspeed for this I just want to get to know why exactly they are not stopping me like they should.

Have I given them enough time to bed in? Am I expecting too much as the brakes on my mk4 tdi golf have more stopping power? Also I have the abs light coming on intermittently. Could this be the cause? It's more than likely the speed sensor as it comes on at speed whilst driving.

Somebody help as I've spent over £500 on this lot including labour and it's not doing the job. I actually feel unsafe driving the Scooby too fast incase I have to stop in an emergency!

This so called socialist couldn't even fit my braided lines either. He did however manage to change the fluid.

what sort of calipers are you using...

recently changed my 2 pot calipers on my WRX hatch to 4 pot brembos and the results are amazing and has transformed the braking on the car no end

It's a widetrack which has the 4pot gold brembos as standard! This is what I'm saying the stopping power should be immense! This is what I don't understand?

The mechanic bled the system and put fresh fluid in.

Did you do the full bedding in procedure, 300 miles of light braking followed by 3 hard stops from 80-20mph with cooling off in between?
I've just finished bedding in my G-hook discs and they feel great.
I do get an annoying clicking noise when I brake tho, reminds me of when I was a kid and putting a lollipop stick in the spokes to sound cool lol.
The noise does seem to be getting less so hopefully it will clear up,if not I will see what Ian says could be causing it.

Abs ring in one of the hubs could be cracked from changing the discs causing your light which wouldn't help braking either.

I guess I'm going to have to investigate this now the weekend is here. I do recall the mechanic having an issue with the passenger rear drum could this have anything to do with it?

It happens on light braking, doesn't do it on hard braking, the only way I can describe it is the lollipop in the bicycle spokes,or the wheel of fortune click, click, click, click! It's doing my head in now.
Do you get any noise when braking?

Thanks mate. Tbh I'm no expert so I may have to take the car elsewhere and spend more. This is what pisses me off I've spent enough already.

The kevlar pads are suitable for those who use their cars as everyday drives , using it for work , shopping , kids to school ect , and like to give it a blast now and then , they are a good biting pad , that works from cold , are quiet and easy on discs.

Your car will never have brakes as sharp as a VW / Audi , and loads of other cars , as these seem to be over servo ed , the subaru servo is not the most powerful out there , which makes you have to press the pedal harder.

Make sure you finish the bedding in process , 300 miles of easy A & B road driving , then 5 hard stops , if you can find somewhere quiet to do a series of stops , if you can find a private road and get up to 80-100 and brake very hard down to 20 , then keep driving , don't come to a complete stop , drive for about 5-10 mins to cool them off , and repeat so 5 times in total , leave to cool over night and they should be right

You should get good initial bite from this setup , if you don't , something is wrong somewhere

Cheers Ian

This is exactly what I have done Ian so I'm trying to figure out exactly what is wrong? I'm no mechanic although I will give anything a try.
