Default 17" Tyre options for Type R

I know this question gets asked always and tyres are generally a personal choice but is/has anyone run these tyres on their Impreza?

I'm using Vredstein Ultra Sessantas (215/40/17 ZR rated) but was looking at tyres with a bit more wet grip

Unimportant Rainsport 3
Goodyear Assymetrics 3
Kuhmo KU39
Hankook K120

Last 2 were suggested by a local tyre company

If you are prepared to sacrifice longevity then Rainsport 3s are the way forward. They are a soft compound specifically designed to perform well in the wet at the expense of heavier than normal wear.

I've no experience with the Assymmetric 3s but the Assy 2s performed extremely well in wet and dry. The Hankooks and Kumhos are not on the same level as your existing Sessantas.

I aalways rated Sessantas in the wet myself and personally have never found wet grip on Imprezas to be an issue including running semi-slicks in torrential Welsh rain, but as you say it's a very personal choice.

Cheers plenty
I like the Vreds a lot, good price, nice tread pattern and they do seem to wear well but always looking out for anything better guess I'll stick with them

cuprajake...I ****ing hate Toyos.Due to a recent incident which mean one of my Vreds was completely knackered I changed to the T1R which I had spare and I forgot how bloody awful they are in the dry and the wet...the wet grip is fecking atrocious imo

I think I currently have Hankook Ventus Evo12's on mine 215/45/17. Had Falkens on my other rims and the evo's are better all round, especially in the wet.
