Default Alloy offset

Need a new set of alloys, been looking at some 17" alloys but there an offset of ET40, so what difference would i see from the standard WRX Newage alloys?

Et40 means that wheel will be moved away from hub, standard et is about 50 so with et40 it will be about 10mm closer to the arch, it also depends how wide is the wheel as standard is 7.5" I think.

Yeah i thought it must be the wheel moving further away from the hub, i'm hoping that will improve the handling abit, not sure if anyone has tried this?
