Default Anyone running 17x9 wheels on their newage STI?

As per the title really...I'm considering down sizing from my PFF7's to some variety of 17x8.5 or 17x9 wheel all round, then running a chunkier tyre.

My question is, how much work would it be to have a 17x8.5 (or 9) on an modest offset - say ET30 (so middle of the road). And run a 235/45 or 245 tyre. My car is a 2005 widetrack - so I understand the track is very slightly increased.
Obviously ride height is dependant too. My car is super low at the minute, but it's going to be raised up slightly soon as it's a bit too crippling for all of my local roads.

If anyone has pics/specs to show, then please do. It would be very useful indeed Newage STI/WRX only please - so bug/blob/hawk. I also wonder how much of a difference it will make in the ride to go from a 225/40 on an 18" wheel to a 235/40 or 235/45 on a 17".

Hi I'm running 9x18 et30 which is quite extreme and required quite a bit of work to fit. I'm running 255/35/18 tyres again pretty wide here's a couple of pictures

Looks great! What work needed doing to make them fit? I have the same car as you

Oh and your paint looks very glossy too, what do you use? I've just bought some Bilt Hamber stuff to try.

Hi it was done a local bodyshop, GHL Bodyworks Grant used this guide for the rear arches, the front and rear need some negative camber to complete the look I'm after.

I used KKD Regloss glaze with Fusso and Soft99 Kiwami wax.

Yeah I clayed first, then Regloss then Fusso, your supposed to leave Fusso 24 hours to gas out, I did Kiwami the following week. With the Fusso and Kiwami use as little possible, to the point it looks like your not really applying anything, as it can be a tw@t to buff off, better still a panel at a time.
