Question Big Tyres

Hey all, just joined, so first post. Apologies if it's a dumb question...

Basically I've got this '98 Impreza 2.0 "sport" Wagon, which I bought at random a few years ago just as a cheap runner for the winter. Got it for basically scrap money from its original owner. Full subaru stamps, mint condition.

Anyway I drove it ages longer than I planned to, and love the thing so much I can't actually face getting rid of it despite not really needing the thing. It's been parked up for more than a year now but I've kept it tested and so on. I want to start doing things to it.

I'm wondering what the tallest set of tyres is that will fit on it without doing anything to the suspension/arches etc. I plan on doing a swap out for forester XT suspension after the winter, but the tyres would need to fit before I did it. It's currently on stock 15" subaru alloys, with a set of 195/60 tyres.

Don't go above 17" wheels, and watch the ET as some won't fit over Scoob brakes, iirc, ET48-53 is right? But someone else will know that one.

With 17's, the accepted profile is 215/40 x17 and that gives as close as possible to the OE rolling radius.

More than 17 risks making the car's handling go odd. 19 is just daft.
