Bought a set of front OE brembo pads from the for sale section on here, got round to fitting them today.

All going well old ones out new ones in, although it took some considerable force to get them in and from there I knew it wasn't right! Proceeded too fit both sides anyway.

Test drive....... Both sides binding and callipers wheels discs all roasting hot! Severely pissed off 😠 anybody came across this before?

 

what's the condition of your discs? if thy're worn and there is a lip this may rub on the new pads until they bed in.

Yes it's probably corrosion built up under the pad plates , you should be able to see it , the plates are bolted into the calipers to stop the ends of the pads damaging the aluminium caliper body , but corrosion builds up underneath them , which lifts the plates away from the caliper causing the pads to jam
Ideally you need to remove them , clean underneath them , repaint , and even apply a bit of copper slip under them

depending on condition of calipers those plate retaining bolts can be siezed in place - simply trim the pad slightly, suspect you'll be talking a 1mm or so to solve..........

 

yeah and now that you've forced them in, your gonna have some fun getting them back out

On both my hawk & hatch sti ive had to file down the pad metal edges so that they go in nicely - never went as far as removing plates on caliper, just cleaned as much corrosion as possible
