Hi Ro,

I've got the same setup and its pants ain't it

The weakest link is defo the pads, I can't see any probs with using a different manufacturers pads on the ebc discs so I'd say to go for it.

Mintex 1144/1155 and Ferrodo DS2500 seem the best I've heard about so far.

Let me know how you get on, as I'll be there very shortly too!!!

Cheers
Neil

I run EBC disc and have changed from EBC redstuff to Ferodo 2500 it works fine. Redstuff was gone after 45 miles on a trackday, I'll check out the Ferodo June 15 on a new trackday

I'm running new standard Subaru pads (MY00 , 4pot) with new EBC disks. Apart from quite a bit of smoke yesterday when "bedding in" they seem to be fine. I didn't fancy redstuff due to the mixed reactions on here, and am too tight to stump up for Pagids etc.

Thumbs up

I've recently reverted to my part worn EBC greens....
I thought the reds offered very poor performance/wear characteristics !
The greens are MUCH better with the EBC disks..lots of bite from cold...and do not fade like they did on the OEM disks.
Although I understand that 'brake bully' ScoobyJawa has destroyed a couple of EBC disks when using greens

Pete ya bu99er!!

Not one but two Indeed I did!!! Both sets brand new discs and greens. lol!!

To be honest I found the greens a VASTLY better pad at both working from cold and temperature (but they warped my discs). It would seem that in that setup the turbogrooves were the weakest link as they couldn't stand up to the greens.
The reds are the worst pad I have come across on any performance car I've been in, IMHO. The standard setup was more effective.
I had my reds fitted in December and covered about 4k miles and they are needing replacing in the next month - I'm not impressed. In that time they never worked from cold - although got slightly better with wear - and didn't stop the car very well from high speeds either.

I'm shortly going with DS2500 and hope those are far better (which they sound like), although double the price!!!

All

I currently have Redstuff pads & EBC grooved discs which is not the best combination.
I think the weak link is the pads - so can I change the pads to another make - Mintex / Ferrodo etc. ? or should I stick to ebc pads if I have ebc discs ??

Ro.
