Default 04 wrx wheel upgrade help

As above I want to get some new wheels for my 04wrx but i aint sure of size, width or offsets i can fit without messing with the arches or them sticking out a mile and looking stupid
I will be sorting some brembos out at some point soon so i need the wheels to also clear these if anyone has any advice it would be very appreciated
Thanks

Depends how low your car is mate, and what suspension your using, ie. OEM struts/springs or coilovers....

Well I have 18x8 ET48 wheels on my 03 blob. (Prodrive PFF7's). Which will clear brembos and fill the arches quite well. I think an 18x8.5 with an ET30 (ish) offset would be as wide as you could go without rolling arches and if you were running lower. On standard suspension the world is your oyster really, but it will look silly and not in proportion if you run wider than that and at stock ride height.... plus if you go too wide with the wheel, you might have contact issues with the OEM springs. Coilovers tend to be much slimmer you see so give you more inner clearance.

Sorry if this is a dense question but whats the benefits of coilovers when compared to the standard suspension and is it actually worth spending out on them

They have adjustability, you can change the ride height and other settings, they usually perform better than tired oem stuff, they're slimmer allowing you to fit wider wheels etc, they perform better on the limit than oem stuff (not always, but usually). The list goes on....

If you're not fussed about the adjustability side of it, then just get some lowering springs on the standard struts. You'll still be able to fit wheels that will clear brembos etc.
