miss match tyres on a bug sti
Hi All,
Happy Christmas Eve to one and all :-)
Quick question guys!
Last night I was having a bit of a spirited drive, and clipped a curb while turning right, and the rear drivers side tyre went flat.
I went to my local tyre and alloy wheel shop.
Who didn't have any Eagle asymmetric 2 in stock to match all the tyres I have on the car. Which are new and covered about 500 miles.
They said that the closest and almost exactly same tyre is the Dunlop maxx rt, and said that if I replace the back two, that would be ok and the car's diff or drive wouldn't sufffer.
I asked if they had four, so that I could have matching tyres all around, but they only had 2 in stock.
Will I be ok with nearly new eagle asymmetric 2's at the front and the dunlopa on the back?
Or was the tyre shop just trying to sell their last 2 dunlop tyres?

similar to Yours ebay front lip and fake sti grille made by zunsport
quality is better than sti spoiler, the same like zunsport grille(which i own to) quality is better than sti grille etc.
ive got full lpg cylinder in the boot which help with traction
Happy Christmas and i hope You dont get banned next year

After asking around, it seems i should be ok, as long as the wear/tread depth is the same all around.
So i'm going to stick with the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric F1 2's at the front and Dunlop maxx rt's at the rear. I've been told they are one and the same, with the tyres coming from the same factory.
But, i'm wondering, has anyone on here actually run into problems because they had different tyres on the front to the rear?

Just buy 1 off ebay and drive on spare in meantime. Not something I'd do on a 4wd car as you won't have exact grip on each corner. The sport maxx rt are the porper version more suited for wet, the gt is the better one so comparing to the *** 2 the garage is actually selling you a less better tyre.
