Default Alternative to Vredestein Ultrac Vorti tyres for a 470bhp Impreza

I'm considering changing my tyres again for something with more grip.

I'm looking at Bridgestone Potenza S001's, Continental Sportcontact 3's or 5's, Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics (I was seriously unimpressed by wear rate and wet grip after the GSD3 but hear this is much better) or Ultrac Sessantas.

I'd like to hear from owners of higher powered (400+ pls) cars on what you're running.

I had sport contacts on the car when I bought it and loved them, then tried Hankook Evo Ventus which were ok but when the car got over 400 they started to display their limitations when pushing them so looking for something better.
I'm not happy with the feel of the Vortis so going for something else

Hi there

We are run Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta on our wagon and wagon has run 490bhp,we are never have any issue with traction in dry or wet

Tyres which we are tried and can recommend are: Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta has been best,AD08R has been great in dry,but very, very poor in wet(lack of grip and as you are said sliding),Continental Sportcontact 3 we are run at size 235/35 and they're been great tyres, lots of grip in dry or wet,but they will not last so long,Goodyear Eagle F1 we are tried on our friend EVO and they're been good too, although can't comment on tyre wear, but what I've read they're been OK,on par with Conti,Bridgestone not sure if I would recommend, probably i would go with older RE70 or RE50,but those are not available in 18" size over here, many people over here running on their Nankang NS2R and they're impressed with them although in wet not sure

Last tyres I would have look are Michelin Pilot Sport 2 which have great review

Hope this help

Thanks,Jura

Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetrics would be my bet. Very good in the wet & dry.

I was running s001's on mine through last year , only reason I changed was a blowout in the Alps last summer and the only good spec tyres I could get was the conti sport contact 5's and so far they are just as good if not better , great tyre ;-) car is running 500+ so has plenty of punishment lol

Michelin pilot sport 3... I settled for the sport 2 after reading lots of reviews, only to be told by tyre shop that they don't make them any more.. This was 18 months or so ago.

The original tires are amazing RE070. The GTR, LFA and STI all posted their fastest laps on the nurnburg ring on these tires. They're dirt cheap too @ 100gpb each
