Default bugeye tire size for 18''

Hi all

I am getting some 18'' alloys for my bugeye, but i'm not 100% sure on the tire size needed.

my standard 17'' tires on there are 225/45/17 and on the tire size comparison sites it says I would need a 225/40/18

but what size are you lot running please?

thanks
ian

225/40/18

Have run 215/35/18 on my newage when I first purchased my first set of 18s (as they came off a classic) but looked terrible and ride was terrible. 225/40/18 all the way. Much wider and they MAY scrape the arches.

Yep, 225/40/18, that's as near in overall diameter as you can get to 225/45/17s. No arch scraping on my Bug even though lowered 30mm all round.

I'm running 235/40/18 on my hawk no problems.

I also have 245/40/18 on another set of wheels again no problems.

Hi there

As above 225/40 will be OK,only issue can be if you will be running wide wheels with wide tyres, then I would suggest rolling arches only way how to get rid of the rubbing and running camber bolts at front and rear, but with 225/40 you shouldn't have any issue,we run 225/40 on the wagon without the issue and without the rubbing

On classic running 225/40 R18 can be issue,bu can be easily sorted via arch rolling and running bit more camber

Thanks,Jura
