Default Which tyres - 7.5x17 Revolution Millenium on 1996 Classic

After originally planning to keep original 16" alloys on my classic, the temptation of 17" Revolution Milleniums is just too much...plus I want to be able to fit ProDrive Alcons so the larger wheel size is needed.

I have just ordered 7.5x17 wheels, but unsure what size tyres I should go for to:

A) Avoid any arch rubbing
B) Get the nicest ride
C) Keep the speedo etc running as close as possible to standard wheels

Help appreciated!

I believe 215/40/17 is the closest to being a good all rounder with the above wheel size, I run 215/40/17 Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, great tyre.

I'm also lowered on tein s-techs on 17 x 7.5j wheels, no rubbing.

That's good to know thanks as I'll most probably be dropping mine slightly, so obviously need to take that into consideration when choosing tyre size.

Apparently 40's can make the ride a little more harsh...how have you found them?
