Tyre Recommendations
Hi Guys,
I tried searching but couldn't find what i was looking for.
Which tyres do people recommend getting? I've not had my car long and it was my first rainy morning driving today and the car understeered a fair amount, more than I thought it would (I was coming off a roundabout). The rear felt fine, but the front was a lot looser than I was expecting!
So, what are you using?
It's a bog standard 2005 WRX.
Thanks in advance.

You have just described standard Subaru handling perfectly
understeer,my advice is to get a four wheel alignment and see how the car handles, there is so much variables that you need to sort out with a subaru to get perfect handling but it should start with getting the alignment done first see how the car drives and where improvement can be made for example anti roll bars, drop links, uprated bushings and even some bracing. If your tyres are withing the legal level the car should still grip and handle well, but if tyres are a must the Nankangs NS-2R or the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta i rate highly.SJ.

Haha OK thanks SJ. I wasnt sure if it was because the fronts were slightly more worn than the rears. (The rears are pretty much new).
I'll look into getting a wheel alignment then as well. Those tyres you recommended, are they mainly summer tyres, or are they OK for year round use? If not, which tyres are good all rounders, or would you recommend I get some winter tyres when the time comes?

the vredie sessanta tyres are the better tyre taking that into consideration,I'm not taking nothing from the Nankangs as they are Awesome, and i mentioned them to the OP in my first reply to him,but there not as good as the vredies in the wet

I've run both goodyear eagle f1 and currently vredestein sessanta. Both are excellent all year round, daily driver tyres. The vredestein just have the edge for me as they're quieter and feel better in standing water and also they're cheaper too.
quieter, No F vs C on F1
Better Wet rating, No C vs A on F1
F1 Edge match is perfect, design is softer for a reason, less bumps -better keep a road.
Vreds are budget and nothing change that, the same as nankangs etc.
F1 rules like evo vs impreza
Bollocks, vredestain at jungle tyres,
quieter, No F vs C on F1

the only thing that i understood was impreza.SJ.
I recently put a set of 18" Toyo Proxes T1-R, supplied by demon Tweeks for £327 for 4 on my Scoob, Always found them a great value good all round tyre, Had them on my previous Scoob and two Leons too.
Even the tyre place I use were stunned by how much I got them for

Nankang road tyres might be budget but their track day tyres definitely are not.
Have you ever actually driven a car with them on? I very much doubt it....
Currently have vreds sessanta's before that had toyos . Massive improvement all round on them.
But was looking into getting a quieter tyre with good handling .
Anyone had any experience with Dunlop maxx RTs ?

Quick one for SJ, or anyone else that cares to comment. You recommended up-rating the droplinks and getting an ARB. I've been looking in to it and it sounds like a good idea to me. Question is, what is the difference (apart from cost and colour!) between the standard white line droplinks - silver in colour, and the heavy duty ones - gold in colour, if any?
*EDIT I'm talking about the rear droplinks in case you hadn't guessed*
Thanks in advance
