Am I missing a part on my Brembo calipers?

Replacing my WRX calipers (red) with STI Brembos (turquoise) - just noticed the WRX calipers have a stainless spreader plate thing between the pads, and I haven't got one of these on the Brembos.

What is it and do I need one?

Yes it needs one on the Brembos as well , it holds the pads firm in the caliper and stops them rattling about

I think it's there to put some tension on the pads to stop them rattling.....
