Default Changed calipers, now can't get firm pedal

So changed my 4 pot calipers for refurbed ones and I think I've got a fair bit of air in the system. After much bleeding of the system I just cannot get a firm pedal to stay. After bleeding I can pump the pedal and it will go stiff. Once I let go for a few seconds it goes straight to the floor again. Anyone have any ideas or is it just a matter of time and just keep bleeding until it comes right? Thanks

Have you got the calipers on the right side? (bleed nipples at the top)

Be a bit more forceful with the pedal...to the floor quick and firm.

I was taught that it has to be bleed diagonally so that should be ok,but would try to do it again as if the abs has air in it it can be quite a bugger to release it all just persevere and give it another go,you have to get it right it's brakes your dealing with so they have to be 100%.SJ.

Totally agree mate, especially with carrying round my two little uns in it + 325bhp on a classic is no couch potato! I've left it with a relative to carry on with tomorrow whilst I'm at work. So the general consensus is to just keep bleeding no matter how long and it will come right? What about these vacuum pumps?

NSR-OSR-NSF-OSF is how I've always done it. Furthest away from the servo and work your way towards it.

It's the "diagonal" that is the key for Subarus I find even though friends of mine do rears then front go figure.SJ.

With two clamps! I have steel braided hoses so even then they were still dripping a bit.

You can't...you have to either allow for fluid loss or put cling film over the ends etc while working. I'd be checking all the flexi pipes now. Might not expel fluid but might suck air in.

I had the same problem as you,I bought some wrx pro calipers, bled them up....pushed the brake pedal and it went to the floor but pumping the pedal it went hard.....
It turned out to be the seal in between the halves of the calipers wasn't fitted properly causing a leak......
Clean the calliper with brake cleaner then check the bottom edge of the calipers and see if they are leaking!!!!

Ok so it turns out I had two of the same calipers so one of the bleed nipples was at the bottom. It's not me working on it at the moment you see and I was told they were both at the top however upon inspection they weren't. Got another calipers today ready to fit tomorrow so hope this will have been the problem!
