Exclamation

aahhhrrgggg!!
during a quiet drive on sunday i suddenly became aware of an intermittent scraping noise, juddering brake pedal and huge feedback through the steering wheel.
Upon inspection it became apparent that my offside front brake disc was split open from the the inside of the disc to the outside. The crack was open and stepped out about 1mm !

Has this happened to anyone else ?? car is MY99.

I've heard of disks corroding, but not producing stress fractures.
Prehaps the disks have been in a bad way for some time and just couldn't take the pressure.
Cheers.

Just warped mine today, not actually checked to see if they're cracked but its great ( not ) trying to stop when all it wants to do is shake itself to bits. I do apologise to everyone at Oulton who had to put up with me whinging all day about it.

Craig, if you're hard on the brakes it's all too common. Standard Scoob discs are cr@p. Replace with Pagid or Prodrive.
