Help me chose a new car
I've been carless since the Scooby went and after a pretty cold trip on the bike this morning and a wet one on the way home I think it's time to bite the bullet and get another motor.
I'm not bothered about having a fast car anymore and don't want to spend too much and will probably flog it come April next year. The narrowed down list is er a bit random to say the least but there's various reasons why they appeal.
Any thoughts on the following or prior ownership insight
The sporty one (despite what I said above
)

Fiat Coupe Turbo
Pros
Always wanted one when I couldn't afford one
Still looks the nuts
Cracking interior
Nice and fast
Against
Potential reliability
Nickability - Would have to stick in car park
Quite big on drive
Group 19 insurance & running costs
The semi sporty

Alfa GTV
For
Looks, pretty quick, convertible
Against
Running costs, potential nickability, reliability
The camp

Nissan Figaro
For
No depreciation, looks, automatic, convertible
Against
£4k+ for a 17 year old micra, will look like Noddy potentially
The random

Volvo 480
For
Distinctive retro looks, cheap insurance, not lost much if it breaks, a future classic (if people selling them are to be believed)
Against
Could require a bit of work
The sensible but stylish

Alfa 147
For
Looks, cracking interior
Against
Expensive insurance for what it is, reliability, crap fuel consumption
The sensible and disposable

Festa!!
For
Cheap as, dump anywhere near work and save on parking, not lost much if it dies
Against
Not exactly car of dreams

If you want a nice car and something you can have some fun in get a (swb) Pajero 2.8 Diesel... Me, Matt, Mark have them and have loads of fun off roading. We are in GLAS which meet first monday of the month at the white bear at tingley. we have runs out over the moor and fun days getting stuck in the mud at various locations its great fun. all going to Wales for some bog hopping in october weekend under the stars on top of a moor with lots of beer...
but
. Last week we all went out on a track i've got over by me in 5 hours.. uesd a tener in fuel and never stopped laughing..

Fiat is nice, interior is top if you get the leathers, sounds super with the 5 cylinders, however finding a nice 1 might be hard as most will be battered,
also they can be just as expensive as scoob on fuel n insurance..also thiefs like em..
get a nissan micra...

Get a Fabia and map it (if it's not already done) and get good residuals (I lost 200 quid in 8 months on my black one), very good mpg (easily 63+ if you try, 40+ when hoofing it), and extremely good mid-range acceleration (mine accurately timed from 30-70 at 6.1s (Prodrive quote 5.4s for STi PPP)). Call by for a test drive
