Default Nurburgring

I'm Thinking of going to the Ring some time early next year, Just wondered if any one else from the club would be intrested. I know it costs a lot of dosh, this is why I am putting this thread up so soon. mabey we could have a chat about it at next EOM. see if any one is interested. and it will give scooby guys and girls plenty of time to get some dosh put to one side.

Because there is plenty of time before we go I hope we can get plenty of others to come.
we all have the cars that can do the ring, they are good for going to the shops, thats why are lass said I could have one. yes the shopping does get done a bit quicker. like I said the ring they can do.
It will be a good trip on the way there, and a good trip on the way back, and a fantastic time on the ring.
and maybe 1 or 2 drinks in the evening.

I will get some more info together for the EOM. if any one else can get any info it would be good.

I am willing to organise the trip to the ring, if anybody would like to help they can, you are all welcome. If any body wants to organise it they can, I don't mind. I just want to go. but it will be loads better if you lot come along as well.

Many thanks

I was about to recommend that site. Sit down with a beer and read his trip reports from start to finish, well worth the effort. We're off over there in October, and I've been trying to save all year and still haven't managed to get enough together!
Well worth the sacrifice though, just being there, in the carpark is enough, nevermind actually driving the thing!
If anyone needs any info, give me or any of the SMACS a shout, we're getting to know the place quite well now

"Were off over there in October" MMMMMMM
Dont think it will be till early next yr before we will be going.
I'v had a look at the sight, Every question that you want to ask is answered on there.

Your car looks well my friend, they are the wheels I would like on mine. where can I get some from? I'm not copying off you, I have seen the wheels before but don't know where I can get some.

Yes, even you've got even an ounce of petrol in your veins, the trip is worth it. It can be done on a budget, and this year there are a few people sharing cars to achieve that. It means you might not get to drive your p&j on the track if you go with someone, but you're there and can be given rides around all day long
I've got a passenger this time, and he's actually hiring a proper ring car when he gets there, as his daily driver is now a volvo!

As for wheels, there are some available now in the for sale section:
https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...ur-alloys.html
https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...l-18-t1rs.html
and I think Alloy Wheels Chrome Black White | Devil Axe Lenso 4x4 Zinik Alba Gateshead Tyne and Wear UK used to sell replicas too.

fire shmire, they're fine... i'm sure all the smoke is a natural bedding in process that we all encounter yeah all seems spot on ta, stops straight, no wheel judder (used to rive my arms off) and braided hoses seem to help the feel... 14hr days mean no real test yet, but i'm preparing

I think with a week off mate its easy to incorporate, I got the distances up;

Day 1

Depart from Hull to Rotterdam
Depart 21:00 - Arrive 08:15

Day 2

Rotterdam to Nurburg - distance 336 km
Time; about 3 hours 24 mins

All day at ring from probably around 12pm onwards..

Day 3

Nurburg to Bormio (Italy, nr Stelvio Pass) - distance 737 km
Time; about 7hrs 45 mins

Its that 3rd day thats needs splitting up, but the distances will give you some idea

Brave, brave people.

I'd take 10 days to do the two. At least. There's so much more to it than 'just' getting there.

You're not just gonna want to go to the ring for an afternoon surely? You'll need a couple of days there to get a feel for the place and to feel like you've actually been. Well I would, and that is without even contemplating taking the car round.

I've only done the Alps once, but I did most of the planning, and believe me Stelvio may have been the icing on the cake, but the 4 days leading up to it were the cornerstones of the whole trip.

Think about it, if you're gonna do it, do it right.

I'm not ruling myself out of coming along on this, but it depends on finances, timing and wifey permission slips. I will try and get to any organisational meets you have though, either way.

Cheers Sticky, that was just a rough idea of distances, I think id ideally want an afternoon and then a full day at the ring, and I agree after PM'ing you, doing both is nigh on impossible unless you have more than 7 days at it
