I can't commit to anything as of now, but would certainly pop along to any organisational meetings and show an interest with a view to bribing the wife

Were off after easter...ish next year I think if you lot fancy some Scooby-Evo bonding time

It'll be a straight run to hull, then to Rotterdam (better ferry and overnight entertainment) and then on to Nurburg

Probably 3-4 Evo's going, let me know what you think.

Should be fairly straight forward I reckon, the hardest part is actually synchronising a date that everyone is happy with and how long to go for, tbh, as long as theres a month or two notice I can more or less get a few days off here and there

Hi all

Just got back off my Hols
glad there is still intrest in the ring.
as far as dates go I will go any time between Now and when we go. That should make my date side of it easy.

Number of nights for me. The max I could get away from are lass from would be 3 nights.

Are we going to wait till the EOM or shall we meet for a coffee at the cafe sooner?

Bez

bless!!!

if you're limited to 3 nights, i'd suggest just doing the ring, get over there and have a good couple of days to play, anything else (stelvio) is going to be a hard push, some of our members did the alps tour this year and it took them lots of planning and lots of time, its ok getting there, but if you are rushing, you'll not see anything anyway!!

depending on the dates and prices, i might be up for a run out, but that will all depend on the sale of rich's car, and if i replace it with my crazy idea

I think 3 nights is doable, but rememebr the ferry is overnight..so depart around 9ish (I think) from Hull and arrive early next day, 3hr to ring...then rest of day there, maybe 12pm onwards...... one night in Nurburg then all next day aswell until heading back to ferry for a 9pm boarding again...then arrive in UK early morning...

very roughly planned of course.

It sounds good I was reading a thread like what you said, over night on boat drive to ring, some laps that afternoon, a night out in some digs then a full day on the ring, then quick dash for the ferry.

its a starting point and I can be a bit flexy, pos go to 4 nights
but what every body wants to do, I'm easy.

Thats main prob normally, but I think if the set-up is in place for an agreed no' of nights, then its half sorted.

My only other idea is to maybe make it so the half day so to speak lands on a friday maybe when its a bit quieter, might help with anyone who hasn't been b4, so they have a little experience and know-how for the next day, especially if its a saturday which will normally be chocker.

do`nt know if anyones still reading this thread but just seen it and thought i`d chip in.
been to the ring five times, about 100 laps. love the place, gets under your skin. if you go you`l want to go back again and again.

plan carefully though cos its not open a lot of days, private track days, manufacturers testing and racing. some days its only open 5pm to about 7pm. opening times for 09 will prob be out around xmas on ring website (tourist fahren) and ben lovejoys site but can change.

not cheap either, ferry 300quid(you have to have a room). petrol, my 06 sti did about 7mpg on the ring, thats about four laps to a tank!! plus its not cheap to go on the ring, 21euros a lap this year (ouch!!) cheaper if you buy 4or 12 laps at a time but still.......
book rooms well in advance if your trip coincides with any racing at the new ring you`ll struggle getting rooms nearby.

prepare your car really, really well. think trackday but about 10x harder on the car. i did a set of brake pads, thought they`d be ok at over half thickness but the rings hard on everything, especially when someone spins right in front of you. 500 euros for front and rear pagids in germany and a day off the road while they were ordered. switch dccd off ya rears al last longer and the cars loads quicker round the corners even in the wet, unless its really wet, then so will be ya undies!!

you land in rotterdam about 8am, allow a fuel stop and a coffee break, watching out for dutch police who are pretty strict on speed limits and have guns! i`m told they take you to the cash machine to pay a fine on the spot or can impound the car. he let us off with a talking to.(oops!) all that means you wont be there till mid afternoon, just time to find your b&b chill out for an hour then if its open go find somewhere to watch for a bit, then go drool in the car park. you think you`ve got a nice motor, whatever it is there`l be something twice as nice. there`s some serious money there.
then if the butterflies are`nt too bad go for a couple of laps and get ready to be passed by an old stripped out golf or similar. great fun.

not trying to put anyone off, just the opposite, like i say, i love the place but prepare properly and you`l have the time of your life and become addicted like me.

I'v read threads on the ring here there and all over.
So many folk saying so many things about the ring. how they love it, the adictivenes of it & so on & so on.
I'v not found any one saying that they did not like it, yes they do say it is expensive, and your car gets some stick. But they all say it is ace, a lot say that they will go back, meny say that they have been back, many times.

I can't wait to go.

As Chris has said we will be there in 3 weeks

Been twice before

Last year it snowed and we did not get on track but still had a great time

We went to spa (1 hour away) for a track day to brighten things up

Highly recomend it, but you realy need to go for a few days to soak up the place.

If you need any recomendations on where to stay let me know

Cheers Andy (SMACS)

www.northloop.co.uk is a good site been on there foe a few years
