That looks driveable....... me being used to snow and all that.... not a dry stone wall in sight either.... apart from that mountain side....

 

The dry stone walls are under the 8 foot drifts Al

If it's any consolation, we were in Geneva a couple of years back and took the rental Corsa up into the mountains through a few ski resorts which looked similar to the pic. It was easily drivable (and great fun ) and they're good at clearing the roads, unlike us Brits A set of chains and some towing equipment would be a wise investment though

 

I am sure you will all cope guys and have fun especially Sticky with his MAD AND CRAZY driving skills...

So looking at that is Stelvio pass open....

 

Nope. They only cleared a path through the snow on Sat. I'm guessing a good few weeks to get up there and clear the whole road, get the stores and cafes up and running etc, before finally opening it to the public. Really don't think it will be open when we go, as the 'official' opening date is in June

 

Ah i see.....

 

It's currently +21 degrees up there. Can't see the white stuff lasting too long.

 

I think we need a pre trip meet next week to ensure we've got everything sorted.....

If we can do this (Not up the Stelvio) we'd have to do a bit of mobile phoning or texting to arrange a time, and you'd have to do a right-click>save image, as the feed from the url updates every minute or so.

You could theoretically track us around the whole trip, as there's webcams all over the place.

 

Maybe we could book some live time with that Russian spy satellite and keep a close eye on your progress
