Default Turbo Hose

Does anyone know if its possible to buy a stronger hose to replace the one from the turbo to under the intercooler. Its the red one with a 90 degree bend in it.

Dont know if mine has split or just come off as its dark and I cant really see, but its making a heck of a noise under boost, and my fuel consumption is down to 12 MPG.

Its been getting louder and louder over the past week, so im guessing it just may not have been put back correctly since I had the de-cat done a week or 2 ago, either that or the hose is not strong enough to support the higher boost?

Any suggestions welcome

Raf

If they get oil on them they easily slip over the lip. Pop the I/C off and remove it, give it a good degrease and refit, it should be OK. Obviously, check for damage whilst it's off.

Some muppet may have failed to tighten the clip fully....

Apologies to muppet concern IMHO

I think MUPPPET is just about the best way to describe them, never taking my car there again, its just been problem after problem

Wont mention names on here as its not fair, Hopefully I can find somewhere to fix the problem tommorow.

Dont want to take it to the main dealers, does anyone have any recommendations for local garages in the leeds/wakefield area?

Rick at REM would be my first choice, at Elvington though, so quite a run.
Howard at HDC in Hebdon Bridge, again quite a way.
Zac & Drew at Precious Metal.

Agree, Rick is brilliant, what he doesn't know about Subarus isn't worth knowing.

Zac & Drew are spot on as well, will always look after you.

Not used HDC so can't comment but a few in the club have and are very happy

I think I will try AET tommorow then, hopeully they can fit me in as it shouldnt be more than a 10 min job to replace the pipe. Hopefully they have one in.

Does anyone know if 21psi, is ok for a turbo to peak at? Im just wondering if im overboosting?

I had a quick look around in GT on here and 16psi is a more usual figure for OE turbo's I believe, but I'm no eggspurt.

if its a standard turbo then NO!!!!! 19psi is about your max... thats 1.2 bar... you shouldnt really exceed 1.2 bar m8... otherwise turbo decides to throw the impellar into places where it shouldnt go.

Ok thank-you guys, Well thats given me yet another reason to trust the muppets that have worked on my car even less

Im really angry at such shoddy workmanship, I feel like naming and shaming.

Going to give AET a call this morning and see if they can fit me in to replace the pipe.

Was going to say our resident sponsors AET have a full range of of hoses in stock, and there on our door step 21psi 1.4bar is a little excessive have you had some mods done, normally you would hit fuel cut at this ?

hope you get it sorted fella

Got it sorted today, took the car back to where I had the mods done and they put the pipe back on for me and test drove the car with the laptop connected, apparently all is fine.

Must admit the car drove spot on, better than ever, so hopefully this time things are sorted, Suppose only time will tell.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Oh and apparently its boosting to 1.27 bar when they checked it with the laptop, does anyone know if thats within safe limits?

Its the Rolling road printout which I had that showed the car doing 21PSI at 3.5k revs.
