WYIOC Chairmanship.......................

WYIOC Chairmanship.......................
OK. I've had a few of these over the years and it's time for another with the show season starting...
The position of WYIOC chair is not a voted for position (or any of the main positions for Events organiser, Secretary, Webmaster & Treasurer etc). It's simply filled by someone who feels they can represent the club well when the 'formal' bits needs doing.
The sort of things in the 'Chairman' position are being main Point of Contact for;
We've never been a clipboard club. We're proud to be a club that is run by members for the members. We don't have a committee or other formal set of people that make the decisions. All the events, doo's and runs are simply done by volunteers and a core set of people who enjoy doing these things.. We let any member (new or old) get stuck into the club from day one and do their thing..
A more formal approach may work, but most people seem to find this the best way and we've never felt the need to change...
However, there are times when a change is helpful to give the club a new edge, direction, personality or front... I don't want to be in the way if that time is now..
Don't get me wrong.. Nothing has been said and I don't feel that is the case, but I wouldn't be a chairman if I was stuck there for years not helping then general cause of the club..
I've been doing this for 4 or 5 years now and I'm happy to carry on with the time I'm currently devoting..
So..
If someone wishes to take a shot at the chair then I'd be more than happy for anyone to step forward... We can set up a poll and simply have a vote..
If you do feel you can do the above and more (you'd be surprised how much time is taken up behind th scenes) then I feel that will be good for the clubs democratic and 'get stuck in' approach...
This isn't meant to be a pat on the back or vote of confidence.. just a forum so that people can be clear of the way were still moving forward...

The sort of things in the 'Chairman' position are being main Point of Contact for;
- Our SNET area upkeep and matters
- Major events matters
- Getting our name mentioned wherever possible and putting it forward in a good & professional light
- Monthly meet arranging
- Sorting out minor club house keeping for the subs etc
- Helping out with all events organising
- Being there to liaise with members who have issues
- Main decision maker when needed
- Writing and putting forward Club rules and Policies..
- Chairing the odd times when we have a club meet (twice so far)..
- General mingler and meeter and greeter for new faces and events organisers

As I said.. this wasn't meant to be a pat on the back because I didn't want it to put off someone who'd like to have a go (and you can).... but....... thanks for the kind comments...
I love you guys...
PS.. Mick.. I'm more of a... behind type of person, if you get my drift...

I've not been a member as long as most but from what I've seen Alan, you've done a top job so far and I like others couldn't think of anyone else better to do it.

What you always do before you make a decision is consult. The best public policy is made when you are listening to people who are going to be impacted. Then, once policy is determined, you call on them to help you . you will do for me mate.

Well: I've consulted and I've listened, and I'd like to thank you all for the kind words and support.
It appears I'm stuck with you lot for another 12 months or so...
Unless the rules change, I'll be asking again next year. So for anyone wishing to think about it for then.......................................
I'll be happy to have an open or quiet word...
