Default FOOKED THE CAR AGAIN

Well got up Fri morn started the car could here slight knocking noise for a few seconds then it stopped now on a morning when cold it sounds like a diesel then when it warms up it is as sweet as a nut i have just had about enough now any ideas sounds like more expense. Just in the process of moving house thought about selling her to fund bigger mortgage disgust it with are lass and decided to keep her (the car of course) But now it doesn't look good

As to what's up with it - not a clue but I'd recommend letting Rick have a look at it providing the motor can make it to York - I'm sure it's nothing he hasn't seen before. I'll PM you his number.

You might wanna try a search for piston slap, sure I've read about it on here before and it was described with the same symptoms you have.

If I remember correctly if it goes away when the engine is warm it's not worth worrying about

if its had forged pistons etc,etc its sould be ok as raf1 with the type r had the same problem,,,he took it to the clinic and they said its normal

just what iv read

Thanks for the link very intresting hope it is just piston slap but it does still knock when under load going to take it to Howard at HDC to see what he thinks

is it not under warranty with the ******,,,?????? dont want to say a name as you never know who reads this and i dont want to start a slagging match,,,and i dont know exactly what work you had done!!!

No mate when had the short block fitted last year Warranty was void as NOS is fitted i will say this though not happy with the clinic when i phoned them it seemed all they wanted to know was how much money i wanted to spend not what the prob could be having said that i could not get to speak to Kev spoke to Andy

i am hoping it is piston slap and i get a few more miles first

No, no.. Some of us may need to buy a hat or something...

Plus, Getting a WYIOC wedding convoy together and setting up a WYIOC arch with raised intercoolers, that the happy couple can walk under, will take some time to organise...
