I may have someone coming to view the car tomorrow. Following a conversation with Helen last night, the option of keeping it has become realistic. At some point I will need a car for the driving school, but the way things are progressing that may not be for another 5-6 months. During that time I am chopping away at the debt built up to pay for the course with my weekly wage. When I finally do need a car, I will have 2 incomes; my current job and the potential driving customers. This can substantiate finance on the new car, allowing me to keep the Scoob which is all paid for. Or, should I just sell it now to the next viewer that wants it? If I sell, obviously I can go straight out and pay cash for the driving school car, and have a little left over cancelling the debt. It is the most sensible option, but owning a Scoob isn't anything to do with sense

Well what a quandry
I can't use my, 'smiley post analysis test' on your post known as (SPAT)
because of your blatant lack of said GIFs
I love Subaru's with a passion Dave, Love owning, Love driving,
Love the feeling of control on high speed twisties, Love belonging to a mark that has pedigree.
I could not with clear consience offer a vote to sell it, if there is anyway you can keep hold of it, without obviously causing you any unworkable financial difficulties.
you know what they say
22 identical boxes and no questions except for one!
Sell or don't sell

Tough call chap. I'd do anything to be able to keep my car in order to satisfy Mick's valid and excellent pointers... My pointer isn't so valid as the club people are probably more important to the way the club 'feels' right now..
But Tidgy hits it on the head... After my Mk1 WRX was nicked, I had a few month in the A-Class. By week 4 I'd pulled out my hair and become a miserable prat... by week 8 common sense was out of the window and I was looking for another Scoob with an addicted passion.... I missed it badly and I get the feeling you will too.
The runs, the doo's and the feeling of being part of the group. With only 3 weeks in a Polo, I'm simply dying to get back to that warm fuzzy feeling my T20 gives....

Nuff said.
CB,
Starting up on my own I can possibly help out.
If you buy a driving school car by selling the scoob then all the money you make from the car school is yours...............therefore if you are planning on keeping your other job for a while you don't need the extra driving school money, you will hence end up with loads of free cash and want another scoob ASAP.
If you get a driving school car on finance you only have to cover the finance payments each month from profits of the driving school and your current wage will pay for the running of the scoob/house/etc...........you are no worse off provided the school pays for the car
If after 6-12 months of running both cars you then decide you want to jack in the weekend job to drive full time you will either be able to afford to run both cars (based on 12 months experience) as you are such a wonderful and fully subscribed instuctor or the scoob has to go and you settle for a lesser wage each month.
In my business, to date I haven't taken a penny as a wage as I have my shift job for that but all equipment is paid off completely, I can therefore charge less (or profit more) from jobs I do when I have all the kit I need and pack in the shift job.
Hope that helps
Kev
P.S. If you are selling it I want a go on track first

Right OK I've been thinking about it, well it's not like I have to think to do my job so I've had plenty of time
although it has been very difficult to stop myself from

Anyhoo it seems to me that considering how you were raving on to me the other week about how good it is now and that it is basically the best it's ever driven and considering driving dominates your whole life getting rid of the Scoob is gonna be very hard.
On the other hand I do wonder whether it's the driving or the car that is most important, it seems to me that no matter what car you had you would get the best out of it so perhaps the car you have isn't the critical factor, as long as it's fun to drive.
Although having said that you may find you'll always be comparing whatever replacement vehicle you get with the scoob, I fear we may hear statements along the lines of, yeah it does this and it does that but it's not as good as the scoob on regular occasions if you were to get rid of it.
So I say keep the Scoob
no hold on a minute I mean get rid of it cos a change will do you good
oh no hold on that's not right, keep the Scoob
yeah that's it, I think
arghh **** it I dunno, look you're big enough and ugly enough to make you're own bloody decisions
now where's the bloody asprins got to

Come come now Dave I think you've already made you're mind up what you're going to do! And I really can't see any of us lot saying "Go on Dave get rid of the Scoob"
so I reckon you would like us to say "you're doing the right thing" - and I think you are if it turns out you keep her
When I got mine it was a tough decision financially and hassle wise but it's one of the best things I ever did. The way I justify / justified it is
1) In a few years time you won't be able to drive anywhere fast do to speed bumps, cameras, road narrowing, give way chicanes etc etc added to the fact of the soaring cost of fuel, so I wanted to enjoy the last remnants of decent motoring in this country
2) I've no brats (sorry children) so why drive round in a Zafira now
The only reservation I'd have (if it was me) is if I was putting so much into a new career at which it's very cornerstone was having a driving license the last thing I'd have would be a Scooby! One small touch of the accelarator and that could be that.

Bloody Hell, welcome to SNet and the WYIOC
Are you working this weekend, as if not you could come along to the trackday. I'll be in on Sunday night for my usual snooze, watch a DVD or 2, eat a pizza and surf the 'net for a while

As someone who recently lost a scoob due to "unforseen circumstances"

Hi mate
This is a tough one. I love my cars, but not like you love yours!
I am currently in a similar situation of keep or sell due to houses, but if there is any way to keep it then I will.
My advice would be, for what its worth, to keep the car until it becomes impossible to do so. In my opinion the car is well priced, yet no-one wants to buy it, as they are obviously out for a bargain, thus meaning you would have to drop the price and not get what you wanted. I dont think that you could strip the car down and get the value either.
The car market is on its **** at the moment. You have put much time and effort into building a car that you wanted, and would be gutted if you had to get rid and then start again later.
just my 2p worth

Pretty much the way I feel Martin. I agree entirely with the bargain hunters, but if they want a bargain they can sod off and buy a standard vanilla WRX. If they want something special then mine is it, but they can bloody well pay a little for it.
I'm gonna let the viewer come by today if he calls, but unless he goes to full asking then it's a no-deal. And even then it may be a no-deal. Off out to wash it now

Excellent mate - stick to your guns.
If i were to buy another impreza, which I toyed with for a while yours would certainly be up there. I've read about the various mods and it seems pretty much perfect for our roads.
Too many people are obsessed with big power, but power without control is nothing! and yours has plenty of power and lots of control!
Fingers crossed you'll be able to keep it!
Cheers
