Default Cars You've Had....

Following Dazza's Pics of him with a very square car he had when he was smaller.. sorry.. younger.. I thought we could do a WYIOC version..

Ignoring your brief flings.. Here is my owning history, in order, to start things off..

Some of these are not my pics...

Ford Granada 2.3L (V6 115 BHP)

MK1 XR2

MK2 XR2 (Tax free taken to Germany )

Ford Orion 1.6i Ghia (Tax free bought in Germany)

205 1.9 GTI (Tax free bought in Germany)

309 GTI (Tax free bought in Germany and brought back to the UK)

Mondeo RS Ghia.. Not my pic, but close. RS Kitted and electric everything.. A Nice motor..

JDM WRX ((Tax free bought in Cyprus and brough back to the UK. Nicked in London)

Added This Beauty... Yamaha GP760. Hooked to the back of the above a used for 3 years on a private beach in Cyprus after finishing work at 1pm... With a few mates, some beers and an Empty beach in 'winter' with some decent waves to jump..

Insurance loss meant not being able top afford a replacement straight away...

Merc A Class. Now my Good lady's wheels..

Prodrive WRS - Now under the ownership of Daz

Type 20... Simply the best of the lot.. Period.

Despite not exactly being a spring chicken I've only had 2 V5s in all my life. The first one was for the Pug below, 206 Gti 137bhp which i had for a year before I could even think about insuring a Scooby.

Then of course the current baby, by far the greatest thing I've driven

Before that was in London for 6 1/2 years so slummed it on public transport. Before that was the 'proud' joint owner of this delight, I **** ye not

Chevette power!!!!! Once got stopped by the police in this for having a back light out, copper took immense exception to the fact that I pointed out his was out too!! Then did a stolen car check on the two toned green monster despite the fact that I was suited and booted and just finished work at a bank....not too mention the fact that I wouldn't steal a chevette.

Then before that had a nice rep mobile for a few months

Which I thought was amazing straight out of Uni and into a fully loaded 2.0 Xantia!! All mod cons. Probably speeded up the fact that I left the company when I had my (touch wood) only collision with another car in Liverpool when some scousers had stolen a No Entry sign.

Thieving scum aside I'll have the current one for quite some time yet and will then probably get a comfy small engined automatic when the councillors and politicians have completed the rape of our road network.

1967 Landrover series 1 (First 'car' - parants didn't know I owned it)
1995 Citroen AX deisel (bought brand new for the insurance)
1997 Citroen Saxo VTR (first on the road in yorkshire again brand new. This got me into the show car scene)

1990 Peugeot 309 GTI (taken in PX against the saxo to get me out of finance debts. spent loads on this including an MI16 conversion and a magazine feature (Revs Aug 2000)

1989 Peugeot 205 1.9GTI turbo technics (straight swap for the 309, spent nearly £6k modding and rebuilding this to the fastest 205 of it's time, sub 12s 1/4 miles)

1989 Audi Coupe 2.2 GT (runaround while modding the 205)

1989 Peugeot 405 Mi16 (swapped for the audi as the pug had a blue printed Mi16 in it - stripped it and used the engine on a mates car)

1987 Audi Coupe 2.2 UR quattro (monster!!!! best car ever owned)

1989 Ford Sierra Saphire Cosworth 2WD (rear wheel sillyness)

1990 Audi coupe 2.0 (newer shape, lovely motor)

2002 Subaru Impreza WRX (bought brand new on lease - got rid when insurance got silly)

1993 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 LTD (thirsty but fun when doing the house up)

1997 Audi A4 1.8TSport Avant
1996 Mitsubishi shogun (borrowed, electrically adjustable suspension that didnt work so rode like zebedee. The most fuked thing I have ever driven)
2002 Nissan Navara double cab (current tank/recovery vehicle!!)

1989 Peugeot 309 GTI track beast

Now. You were either pretty advanced and well off as a Child or, by my reckoning, you're looking good for a 53 year old born in 1952.

OK - I'll go for the shortest list so far...

In 18 years of driving

'87D Skoda 130G Rapid with weber carbs, K&N, Lumenition etc and was a definite Q-car

'95M Citroen ZX Volcane TD - bog standard performance-wise but torquey

'02 Bugeye WRX PPP - thought it was initially flat as a fart after the ZX Did a reasonable bit of modding on this one and then eventually reshaped it

'05 Blobeye STi PPP - best so far... and only lightly modded due to insurance "experiences" with bugeye

As short as mine Andy.....the list of cars, before anyone looks at my trousers

88 - Austin Maestro 1.2 iirc Cheap to insure, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

90 - Ford Sierra Sapphire 1.8GL with Monroe dampers and Bilstien springs, boy did that thing corner well. Took forever to get up to any speed, but once there you never, ever slowed down no matter what the corner was. Embarrassed many XR/RS's, until we got to the straights

94 - VW Corrado 16V As you know, I've still got it, and still love it to bits although we are thinking of changing it for a nice MX5. It isn't getting any younger

04 - Scooby WRX PPP Waited years to get it, and it's up for sale already You all know the spec.

What's with all the long lists of performance cars?

Anyone would think you lot were enthusiasts or summat!!!

Morris Marina 1.8 coupe - Lay shaft fell into gearbox and it died (after a week of ownership)

MG Maestro 1.6 company car, 17, just passed test, on a YTS. Boss got a 6 month ban for speeding so I became head chauffer

Vauxhall Victor - died

Fiat 126 with rolly material roof thingy. Used to roll the roof back and sit on the top of the seat back driving along. Had cruise control (I **** you not) made it all the way back from Blacpool, 4 up, with NO BRAKES AT ALL, not even HB!!!. Got rid to a YTS chap in a local garage, who jacked it up to have a look underneath and the damned thing snapped in two.

MK2 escort 1.1L 2 door, not long before it had a 1600 engine with TC Webers , Peco twin rear box, but still had 1100 diff and gearbox. 0-60 in 8 seconds (very quick for the day) but only 90 flat out (which it did all the way back from Scarborough once ). My most loved car by far. Want another one.

MK3 cortina 2.0 GLX auto

Renault 12 (think it was a 12, funny shaped thing)

MK2 GL 1.3 in orange. Nice. removed the plastic / rubber / chrome trim, fitted works spoilers front & rear. Cherry bomb rear box (remember them?)

Metro van company car. Had two new engines in 6 months (What's Running-in?)

MK4 cortina 1.6, couldn't go above 60 'cos of excessive vibrations, overheated every 20 miles

'85 XR3i C941 UAJ, Really wanted a 5 GT Turbo, but couldn't gind a decent one. 3i did me for 2 years before..

Astra van, bought with a view to help getting the business up and running

MK1 fiesta, painted purple with a big Prince sticker on the bonnet (Mine, but not mine IYSWIM)

MK3 Escort van. Handled like buggery, went okayish. Managed to fill it up with deisel, which considering it was a petrol engine wasn't too smart (Hello Steve )

MK1 XR2. A reg. MINT. stunning. beautiful. Some **** nicked it!

MK3 Escort Ghia (Wife's really, when we first met) Stuck Fiesta Turbo alloys on - Some **** nicked it

Sierra 2.8 4x4 Ghia Estate. Nice motor, especially in the snow. Some **** nicked it

MK5 Escort - By far the biggest POS ever to run on the country's roads

V6 Mondingo. Thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Kept it for three years, until

UK Impreza Turbo, V369 GAG - WOW! loved it, had it a year, sold it to our kid who promptly wrote it off.

UK Impreza Turbo wagon - Nice

Evo VII FQ300 - Less said the better

Evo VIII FQ300 - Think it was YELLOW, currently residing at the clinic where it now has 380 bhp and 370 ft/lb and I want it back

and finally

The wife's STi8 - Recently seen 'avving it around rallydrive's track. s'okay I suppose

To come...

Probably EvoVIII FQ320 or 340, or an MR. Probably in yellow

Then this...

Forgot about a couple...

'Bishi Colt Turbo - That's where the 'Bishi thing started. Quick hot hatch.

Sh!tty 1.3 white MK3 Escort

2.0 pinto engined Jago Geep. 3 wheels round corners if you gave it any mid-bend. Interesting

and a couple of Honda Clonks, but best not to mention them
and another Astra van and Escort van, both in the early days of self-employmentship

You may notice a bit of a trend somewhere along the line

1. Cavalier 1.6 GLS Mk2(I think) in Gold no less £1600 - had a disagreement with it down a country lane, I wanted to go round the corner the car did not , straight on dead centre into a tree, killed it! - have pictures somewhere will dig em out

2. interim period due to lack of funds found me borrowing me muvvers motor, a 1.6 Cavalier in white, bought brand new a J plate, twas thrashed to within a inch of it's life

3. Escort 1.6 Ghia in silver - funds returned (well sort of) to allow the purchase of this beauty on an X plate for £500, it was alright, never really liked it that much though, sold it just over a year on for £500

4. Renault 18 1.6 turbo in black - almost the best car I've owned, from a mates garage, £500 with a years mot, looked awful, went like the clappers with a seriously loud whistling turbo, stuck a dumpvalve on it too , couldn't corner for toffee (wonder if those part worns had something to do with that) but embarassed many a car off the lights - scrapped when the MOT came up

5. Mazda 323 4x4 1.6 turbo in white D727 GEL - the scurge of the car world Revs and Max Power had got the better of me and I decided I wanted a car project, so went for this as something a little different. They're supposed to handle as well as an Integrale, but with 115k on the clock with I believe the original shocks mine didn't, no matter though cos the suspension was gonna be replaced anyway, after all it was a project Dumpvalve and bleed valve on and it was running at 14psi, for a while anyway, then stopped working on the motorway, hole through the piston and missing some of the head gasket , new engine was just the first of many expensive repairs, more time off the road than on , was finally scrapped when funds ran out!

6. Cavalier 2.0 SRI Mk3(I think) burgundy G plate(I think) - needed something reliable with a bit of performance that could take a lot of mway miles, was solid and relaible but sustained some body damage, accumulated some rust and was showing it's age and mileage - noone wanted her, scrapped it

7. Escort estate Mk5 i think followed by a Focus estate - both 1.6 and both company cars, absolutely hammered absolutely everywhere, did everything in my power to kill em (didn't like that job much as you may have guessed), managed to kill the cat in the Escort and took the Focus onto the pavement whilst trying to go round a roundabout in the damp, result = 1 square wheel and some knackered suspension & 1 unhappy boss

8. Cavalier 2.5 V6 Mk3 burgundy £2200 - full leather, electric everything, heated seats and mirrors, seriously long gear ratios, could cope with just about anything on the mway & dual carriageway, p***ed a lexus right off down a dual carriageway one day , seemingly endless power, loved it - until THE fault started to show itself - much time spent on cavweb forum and at the local dealers, much money later it still wasn't right but then the day after we had moved to Leeds someone offered me cash for it, after grabbing the cash and giving the bloke his arm back I took to the bus for a bit

9. Subaru Impreza WRX M378 VNN £5300 Silver November 2004 - got bored of the bus, got a loan and was stunned to find I could actually afford a Scooby, found this little minter and proceeded with the mods, well the standard handling is pants, understeer, understeer, understeer - as some of you know, got nicked from the car park at work 3 months later

10. Subaru Impreza WRX K plate £4800 Silver April 2005 - after a battle with the insurance company finally got a reasonable payout which allowed me to buy the current little baby, she's not perfect but she's got a lot going for her and I'll get her all sorted in time

1995 - got a C plate metallic green Mini City E. It cost me £150 off my mate and cost £15 to get running. It was absolutely knackered but i loved it!

1996 - Bought a D plate Escort Sport (white & ****e) off my ex-girlfriends mother. Not a wise choice. It fell apart within 6 months - her ultimate revenge as i am sure she knew it was going to happen! lol

1996 - Bought a C plate XR3i in metallic blue. Excellent condition, totally standard. Ran it for 12 months before putting a 1.8 block in with ported and gas flowed cylinder head. Excellent car!!

1998 - Back end of year treated myself to an Escort RS Turbo in Rosso Red. Great car. Blew engine in Apr 1998 so decided it was a good idea to go to town on it. Again had a 1.8 block built, head skimmed, hybrid turbo, uprated actuator , 1.4 bar boost, mapped fueling sorted and everything. Chewed 2 RS boxes in 3 months! Got that sorted so then the only problem was that it was front wheel drive! so i moved onto

2001 - Rev 2 Red MR2 Turbo t-Bar. Fresh import. Brilliant car. Bullet proof (not literally) one of the best cars ever had £ for £. Great fun, handling and fast, especially after full HKS exhaust minus the CAT and having the boost upped to around 15psi! after putting some nice wheels on it I was very happy until i was supposed to buy a Canary Yellow M3 Evo - this fell thru leaving me without a car and sulking so i bought........................

2002 - R plate Subaru WRX STi Type R - Dont really need to go into this much - mildly modifed, very fast, impecable handling, awesome sound loaded with extras. Loved every minute of ownership. Only sold it as i knew they were about to lose money and bought

2004 - Toyota Supra Twin Turbo 6 Speed. All i can say is WOW. Quite a few mods on this, and it goes like the clappers. Once moving is faster than the Scoob Type Rand just about anything (till you start spending serious cash!) Can be a bit of a handful especially in the wet, but would not swap it for anything. People just stop and stare, let you out of juctions, even had people pull over when i have been behind them (at a safe distance and slowly) just to let me by. I am now considering a single turbo conversion which will keep me happy for another year or so with it.

Mark. We need to talk

Had this Yamaha GP760 in Cyprus (not mine but the same one) for 3 years.. (see below in my car section...) used nearly every day for the 3 years on a private beach in Cyprus after finishing work at 1pm

With a few mates, shorty on, Oakley's, some beers and an Empty beach in 'winter' with some decent waves to jump.. Got quite good too!!

Jeez. Them were the days.. awesome..

^^^^^

Methinks this 'NEW' member needs to pay his WYIOC active supporter fee for a new badge to go under his name.

Here goes (skipping all the dull cars i've had):

Nova 1.3 SRI (A reg) - bought when i'd just passed my test in 1994. Stolen after 2 weeks of ownership in York (found with it's GSi alloys stolen and burnt out the day after)

Nova GTE (G reg) - cracking little minter in white. Was only a couple of years old when i bought it and really did get me into performance cars

Nova GSi (J reg) - couldn't resist going to the newer shape Nova. This was a little belter altho' turned out it had been in a bump so it was returned to the dealer

Fiesta RS1800 (K reg) - alright car, i wished i'd have bought an RS Turbo the moment i drove it away.

Rover Mini Cooper Sports (R reg - bought new) - was talked into it by the girlfriend. It drove ok but the feeling of terror when on the motorway surrounded by trucks in the rain is terrible!

Peugeot 106 GTI (S reg - bought new) - nippy little car and looked lovely in China Blue. But with it being a French car things soon went pear-shaped (head gasket went, speedo broke etc etc).

Volvo 850R (N reg i think) - 255bhp FWD beast. It didn't corner, nor did the brakes work but my God it had some luxury

Peugeot 306 Roaster (R reg i think) - alright but the convertible thing didn't suit my shy nature so i sacked it off - too many stares when driving about town with the top down.

Subaru Type RA (P reg) - known by quite a few at the WYIOC. An absolute stonker of a car and the most fun i've ever had with my pants on.

Escort RS Turbo (G reg) - this had the 2litre conversion and was a magazine featured car. One of the quickest in the UK. Was taken on an WYIOC run once when i swear blind it was keeping up with the Ferrari Stupid power (200bhp+) at the front wheels was just way too much for everyday driving so that was sold.

Renault Clio 172 Sport (51 plate - mk2) - a beautiful looking car but i kept thinking "Nichole? Papa!" everywhere i went, so i decided to stop being a girl and bought...

Subaru WRX (tarted up and modified to look STI5 spec). The bugger cost me over £3k to get back on the road but all is well now and i'm back loving Scooby ownership.. although seeing J4CKSON every few weeks in that beauty of a Supra has given me itchy car feet again...

Next car either a Supra or RX7 - or if i manage to sweet talk a payrise this year - the last shape BMW M5

Ahhh, Pontypark

Mick, rest assured that when I did the old silver Sierra for you, half the WYIOC weren't even born (Except Al and Chris, they'll have been in their mid forties )

...and thank God you didn't post the piccy with a long haired Sticky putting the stripes on
