And there's me thinking you knew your music 
As everyone else knows, Dobro is not an instrument per se, but refers to any acoustic guitar with a metal resonator set into the body (also known as resonator guitars or resophonic guitars). It's plainly obvious from the picture that the bridge of the resophonic guitar over which the strings pass is attached to a metal resonator which produces and amplifies the sound; the body of the guitar does not play a significant role in sound amplification, as we all know.

The name came into being when John Dopyera and his brothers ("Dobro" also means "good" in their native Slavic language) set up their own business in 1929 trying to make a louder sounding instrument before amplifiers for guitars were even considered.

Don't mention Al and music.
Following one of his tips I put a concrete slab on top of one of my audio components, 'cos it would "Improooove the qualitay of the sound"
